Name:[/u] Zoey Fiala
Age/Date of Birth:[/u] 17, February 29th (Pisces)
Gender:[/u] Female
Height:[/u] 5’ 5” (165 cm)
Weight:[/u] 118 lbs. (53.5 kg)
Blood Type:[/u] AB
Dominant Hand:[/u] Left
General Civilian Description:[/u] Chin-length (though what might be described as layered) hair, of a rather dull blonde coloration, that typically curtains her left eye, dark steel blue (almost black) eyes, and a fair complexion accentuate a slender, ‘well-groomed’ frame. She is an attractive young lady physically (as required by her ‘job’), but her somewhat ‘disconnected’ personality has alienated her from the attention of her peers. (Something she currently thinks of as a blessing.) To further ‘cover’ herself, her school uniform is always of the long-sleeved variety (even during summer), she has the longest allowed skirt (just at the knees) and always wears stockings. Only her face and hands are visible in the school environment. Her public dress , such as when shopping, is very similar to her school uniform style. When at home at ‘La Rosa Blu’, she tends to dress in shorts and tank-top silk pajamas, with socks and a short bed-robe. (Although she does go full-flannel when snow piles up on the balcony.) At ‘Paradiso’, on the other hand, her dress style is far more provocative. Her ‘eveningwear’ consists of rather revealing, dark colored (black, blue, or purple) gowns, accessorized with thigh-high stockings, high heels, and quite a bit of gold and diamond jewelry. Additionally, her ‘Paradiso’ existence is ‘dolled up’ in terms of her makeup, with some pondering amongst her female classmates as to whether or not it is professionally done.
Strengths/Talents:[/u] Exceptional damage potential with her lightning abilities, theoretical battlefield control with her plant-based abilities, Unassuming Aire (is rarely targeted first in combat), physically is exceptionally flexible, Natural Resistance (once awakening as Jupiter, Zoey develops a significant resistance to poisons, venoms, and disease), eloquent/speaks and writes well (the speaking part is something of a surprise and must be developed, since she is so quiet in school), cooperative (follows orders very well and will develop a knack for seeing opportunities to work in tandem with allies to maximize damage potential.)
Weaknesses:[/u] Physically weak and lacking in melee-range combat – she does not do well with taking hits or dealing them out at close range, Unassuming Aire Rebound (generates massive ‘threat’ status from her lightning abilities and tends to become a central target for the enemy after unleashing her bolts, if the enemy remains alive), cooperative*(tends to try not to ‘make a fuss’ about things, which may put her in disadvantageous positions at times), does not know how to swim, has an unnatural fear of cats.
Hobbies:[/u] Frequenting the ‘all-ages’ night club ‘Paradiso’ (which is a ‘stadium’ club, featuring a planetarium-like dome ceiling and an atmosphere determined by the ‘star field’ projected) as the ‘girl-in-the-corner’ – elegantly dressed but seemingly unapproachable and always alone (she uses her ‘employed’ status to exempt her from the age-requirement for getting drinks – this does have some of her schoolmates using her as a way to get alcohol under age, which accounts for the only drop of popularity she has)
-Sitting on her 7th floor balcony at ‘La Rosa Blu’ and staring out into space/watching the city
-Existing as an ‘anonymous online entity’ (or AOE for slang purposes) under the login name R3D3Y399 (‘RedEye99’ – when sent voice or video messages (she doesn’t accept real-time voice/video chat with people) some individuals pronounce it ‘ready’, despite many attempts at correcting them) on Asherah’s largest and most popular electronic forum, ‘Memory Card Optional’ – or ‘MCO’ as it is referred to. She is very well-known on the forums, being one of only about 200 ‘Pure Platinum’ members (a status awarded for 1. Being referred by other members, 2. Providing ‘real contributions’ to the online community as determined by the moderators, and 3. Having over 300,000 posts.) Her top 2 discussion boards are ‘Space Exploration General’ (populated by scientists, general enthusiasts, engineers, and even some political figures) and ‘Xeno Creepy – Conversations on What the Bloody Hell Might Be Out There’ (which tends to be nerds with over-creative imaginations speculating about crazy aliens.) That being said, she can be found all over MCO and it is highly likely that nearly everyone in school recognizes the name ‘R3D3Y399’, despite not knowing who it really is.
Likes:[/u] The freedom she associates with the online forums, being pressed to reveal her identity on the online forums (it’s about the only attention she gets that makes her feel important), reading speculation online about what her (and other AOEs) true identities are and egging on those discussions, drinking coffee.
Dislikes:[/u] Every ‘client’ she’s ever had (which amounts to only 5 individuals, given her special designation), how half of her life (i.e. the one she leads at ‘La Rosa Blu’) essentially doesn’t exist whenever she leaves the establishment (this, of course, theoretically changes when she turns 18, but the whole ‘secret life’ thing is something she must always be cognizant of when in school or public. No one is allowed to know! Though, of course, rumors still swirl…), cats (of any kind – doesn’t like ‘cat girls’ either, despite having to dress as one once), being confronted in school/public (not as much of an issue when at ‘Paradiso.’)
Personality:[/u] That depends on which ‘Zoey’ you are asking about. Zoey’s online existence is chatty, clever, overtly curious and… as shrouded in mystery as much as she can manage. Though quick to talk to anyone, Zoey does so via text alone (no voice or video) and her profile is filled with a variety of ever-changing odd comments or quotes instead of any identifying information. She feels that forcing others to interpret her as nothing more than text is the ‘purest’ way of expressing herself and connecting with them. Her physical personality, though, is quiet and unassuming. In class she is usually daydreaming, lost in a world of music (pumped to her ears via wireless microbuds), and she only speaks up when professors force the issue (typically startling the hell out of her in the process.) When class is over she is almost always the first to leave, participates in no extra-curricular activities and, for most of the student body, might as well not exist. (For example, at lunchtime she disappears. Only Alex knows where she goes.) In general public it is much the same, with her passing through and around crowds as if she were part of the ethereal (and always accompanied by music no one else can hear. … She has nearly been hit by vehicles because of this.) At ‘Paradiso’ she remains quiet, hidden away in the back corner of the club, with individuals approaching her to take advantage of the fact that she is willing to get those who are under age (i.e. usually her classmates) alcoholic drinks. This is, oddly enough, something of a trade for interaction, however brief, but, unfortunately, she rarely holds their attention for longer than five minutes, primarily because she ‘never knows what to talk about.’ The real problem is that she is unsure, in the social situation, of what she can and cannot say about herself… and conversation always leads to questions of that nature.
Family/Important NPCs:[/u]
Ezio Carlevaro – age 63. Zoey’s ‘adopted father’ and the owner and C.E.O. of ‘La Rosa Blu’ and ‘Paradiso.’ Though she does not have much interaction with her 'father' since her ‘coming of age’ (in this case, since age 14), Ezio was, at one time, the most dominant male presence in her life. The bond was formed as a result of the story of her ‘rescue’ from the slums of Asherah and the resulting connection and upbringing is responsible for her public ‘invisible’ style of being. She is wholly subservient to what is ‘handed down’ to her from her foster father, and his wishes are what has her in her current occupation as ‘payment’ for being ‘rescued.’ He is the one that has provided her with a place to live and income to support her lifestyle, with the trade for such luxuries (i.e. ‘paying back her debt’) being her ‘special request’ role within ‘La Rosa Blu.’ Description wise, while it is rather obvious that he was once a handsome man, Ezio has officially moved into ‘aged’ status. (There is a great age discrepancy between Ezio and his real child, Alex.) While once jet, his slicked back hair style is now mostly gray, and his olive-tone features are weathered from the stress of political and back door deals. He still dresses classy and maintains his wit, but he is not the man he once was.
Alexander Carlevaro – age 18. Zoey’s ‘step-brother (not really)’ and the only (recognized/legitimate) child of Ezio. Alexander is the ‘heir’ to ‘La Rosa Blu’ and, as might be expected, appears as something of a playboy. His position at school, and in the social rankings of the youth of Asherah, is rather high, depicting him as ‘a person to know’ at the very least. Though he is not an athlete, and seems to play no role at all in school politics, Alex always seems to be in a position of ‘control’ over the various cliques amongst the youth of Asherah (or at least enjoys status as a ‘person of consequence.’) Slick as oil and smooth as silk, his charm wins him more battles than anything else (and his only real enemies appear to be rivals for <insert random girl’s name> or those who are very against the business his father runs.) Yet, despite his playboy manners and ties to ‘the social haves’, he never appears to be tethered to them, and seems to march to his own beat. A surprisingly genuine individual (when not on the ‘social stage’), Alex struggles with balancing his own life with being the heir to a less-than-pure family legacy. As far as the public knows, there is no direct connection between Zoey and Alex, but those who are near when the two cross paths can physically feel the tension and awkwardness that exists between them. Description wise, Alex tends to style himself as something of a mockery to his father. Suits? Check, but with loose ties, half or fully untucked shirts, and, of course, the jacket, slacks, and shoes never match. (But it is obviously a meticulously organized disorganization.) He’s never clean-shaven, but the stubble is always suspiciously symmetrical, and his sandy brown hair is slightly long and is styled in an ‘obviously controlled’ kind of windswept wild.
Emilio and Miranda Dalca – Zoey’s biological parents. Though she has not seen them since she was 4, Zoey’s real parents have been provided full updates (save one particularly juicy tidbit), including pictures, of the status of their daughter over the course of her life. There is much inherent shame among the pair, due to the fact that they effectively sold their daughter to escape the 'slums' of Asherah (in Cress District, near the red-light district) and be ‘reborn’, economically at least, in Eldridge, a small maritime settlement 40 miles southeast of Asherah. Whether by guilt or by parental predisposition, they are very concerned with Zoey’s well-being. However, they do not know of her ‘escort’ status, and she has had no reason or desire to know of them, of their location, or what they may wish for her. She has been provided pictures and, up until around age 12, received letters from her biological parents, but they are, at best, very distant (and unimportant) relatives to her.
Occupation:[/u] Full-time high school student, ‘Special Request – Class S Escort Girl' for ‘La Rosa Blu’, one of the ritziest, high class brothels within the red light district of the city of Asherah.
Residence:[/u] ‘La Rosa Blu’, floor 7, room 707 - a four-room suite with an extended closet, ‘emperor’ class bathroom, six-person hot tub, and a ridiculously large, heart-shaped bed (dressed in dark blue silk.) It is both her most and least favorite place on the planet.
Biography:[/u] She was born as ‘Allison Dalca’, only daughter to Emilio and Miranda Dalca, a pair of squatters in Asherah’s ‘Paradigm District’ – a.k.a. the (probably sarcastically) named slum-section of Cress District in the great tower city. Though that description certainly paints a dark picture, the ‘slums’ of Asherah are not, by the global standard, below the standard of living. Many of the individuals and couples, like the Dalca’s, live there due to socio-economic distress, but the ‘Paradigm District’ of Asherah is designed, through public support, to be a stepping stone to recovery. Basic amenities are provided for within the designated area, and although it is not ‘high quality’, it is not the dirty, disease ridden chaotic place that the word ‘slum’ generally implies. Motivated citizens that are ‘unfortunate’ enough to end up in the public residence in the ‘Paradigm District’ tend to stay there only two years on average, moving out after improving their status through a variety of methods. Such was the case with the Dalca’s… but they ‘moved up’ (and moved on) via a less-than-exemplary short cut. Perhaps it was because they believed they were incapable of properly caring for a child, perhaps they fell victim to the charisma of the business man and the ‘too good to refuse’ offer, or perhaps they really just didn’t care and thought the deal was the quickest way to get a ‘fresh start’… whatever the reason, when Allison was only 4 years old she was purchased by one Ezio Carlevaro for the cool sum of 32,500 credits. It was on that day that ‘Allison Dalca’ ceased to exist, and Zoey Fiala was born.
Zoey’s childhood was, aside from the initial shock of being separated from her parents and having to adjust to a new environment, rather normal. She ended up being a personable and well-behaved child (at this point she was the ‘little delight’ amongst the women of ‘La Rosa Blu’), and, aside from the odd method of transportation (she was not allowed to use the teleporter system within Asherah to ‘go home’ – instead, she was always picked up by anonymous individuals using all black, single passenger occupancy hovercars), grew up as one might expect a child in Asherah to grow up. She attended school at the IVO branch and made her way through the grades as neither popular or disliked, with good-but-not-great grades, and a predisposition to listening to music in class instead of paying attention to her instructors.
Her world tipped at age 14 when, being declared ‘a woman’ by her foster father, it was finally revealed to her exactly why she lived in a ‘tower full of scantily dressed women’ and what her role was supposed to be. ‘Taking care of children is the responsibility of the parents, but there comes a time in every child’s life where the responsibility shifts from dependence to support’, or so she was told when called to Ezio’s office. ‘There is no such thing as a free lunch,’ he said. ‘And no one is simply given a right to survive. To survive, you must prove your worth, and what your worth is boils down to only one thing: credits. That, my dear, is the reason you are here in the first place.’ Ezio went on to explain that, because she was ‘family’ (allegedly unlike the other women in ‘La Rosa Blu’), she would be given a specialized, more protected (oh… and more lucrative… and, not to mention, illegal) role, with the designation of ‘Special Request – Class S.’ What it was she was supposed to do was then explained to her in full detail, she was promptly moved to the 7th floor and given her own room, and she was forbidden to ever make mention of her ‘job’ to anyone outside of ‘La Rosa Blu.’ This event coincides with her sudden ‘personality withdrawal’ and her social descent into awkward obscurity. Adapting to her new (third?) life transformed her into a social ghost at school and in public in general, and also spawned her much more active ‘electronic life’ as an AOE.
Another interesting result of this change was Zoey’s introduction to her foster father’s ‘blood’ son, Alexander. She’d known of Alex before and had come across him in school, but had never interacted with or even seen him within the walls of ‘La Rosa Blu.’ The revelation that one of the ‘Mr. Populars’ in school was actually Ezio’s son came as a different kind of shock to her system. Although it was slow to develop at first, this newly revealed connection created a ‘dual existence’ between the two: Alex is a frequenter visitor to Zoey’s room at ‘La Rosa Blu’ (as a friend, not a ‘client’), is a fellow AOE on the MCO forums (login name: HigherThanUrKite), and is genuinely concerned with her well-being. However, at school and in public, he doesn’t even know her name. One might think that this was handed down as a commandment from Ezio, but it was actually made as an agreement between the two, ironically, to ‘protect her reputation.’ As a rule, ‘no reputation’ or even ‘weird reputation’ was much preferred to a ‘bad reputation.’ Though it has not been confirmed in school/public that Zoey actually works at ‘La Rosa Blu’, there are plenty of rumors out there. An obvious connection with the ‘heir’ to that establishment, though, and the rumors… Of course, once she turns 18 that secrecy could no longer be needed, as she would then officially be ‘legal.’
Overall, life, while perhaps a little lonely, is actually quite good for Zoey. She is completely taken care of (in some cases even to ‘pampered’ status.) Her official ‘under age’ status (note: according to Asherah’s laws) presents her as an exceptionally pricey offering (by special request only) on the ‘menu’ of ‘La Rosa Blu’, and as such, she has not had to ‘perform her duties’ very often. With living vicariously as an AOE acting as her coping device for her social deficiencies, Zoey exists, at this point, primarily simply to exist. She is patiently waiting for her 18 birthday to occur, as then (or at least, after graduation) she will be able to choose her own direction in life. (Of course, not knowing what direction to go is a constant worry in her mind.)
Soldier Identity:[/u] The Senshi of Jupiter
Symbol:[/u] Essentially the same as the canon once done; upon appearance the ‘frame’ of the 4-shaped symbol appears with the straight right side taking the form of a leafless tree and the bent, ‘L-shaped’ arm appearing as a thin lightning rod. A serpent-like dragon, with the body made of thorny vines and a head like that of a snap dragon flower curls up the tree and, as it reaches the top and ‘roars’, lightning strikes the wire lightning rod, capturing the bolt to cement the 4-shape of Jupiter’s symbol.
Elemental Identity:[/u] Lightning, Plants
Weapon (if applicable):[/u] N/A
Expected Role in Combat:[/u] Dedicated ‘caster-type’ that excels at long-range damage dealing, with a lesser focus of crowd control. Jupiter is, for all intents and purposes, a ‘mage’, utilizing her abilities from a distance to damage, stun, and disorient the enemy for the benefit of her physically stronger teammates.
Uniform Description:[/u] The base of Jupiter’s uniform design is, of course, the canon leotard-like fuku. Unlike the canon tri-color design, however, Jupiter’s outfit is dominated almost exclusively by the deep forest green. The leotard itself and the connecting skirt are essentially the same as the canon, though the skirt itself is ever-so-slightly longer, and the whole of leotard, skirt, and accessory ‘sailor collar’ are all green. She does not have a bow around the gem on her chest, either. For Jupiter, the compact gem is a standalone accessory. Other differences from the canon include the sleeves of the fuku and also the design of the sailor collar itself. Jupiter’s fuku features long, loose sleeves that get progressively wider as they extend the length of her arm. Two thin, white stripes accessorize the wrists of the sleeves. The collar of her uniform actually forms a cape for her that extends down her back, ending at an equal length to her skirt. It is not a full cape (i.e., it is not wide enough to wrap around her), is the same dark green as the rest of her outfit, and features a single thin, white stripe along its edge. Further unlike the canon, Jupiter does not wear gloves. Her hands are bare and, upon transformation, her fingernails are ‘polished’ to the same green as her uniform. Her legs are adorned with stark white stockings that reach the middle of her thighs. The top edge of the stockings features two thin, green stripes. Her shoes are actually rather boring, somewhat casual lace-up flats. They are green, like most of her uniform, and are actually tied a little odd, in that the tongues of the flats are longer than necessary and the laces are tied and tucked behind these extended tongues. (They flap a little when she walks or runs.) Her tiara is the same shape as the canon, though a little thinner, and adorned with twisted vines. (Luckily, these vines lack thorns.)
Transformation Item:[/u] The same as the canon transformation pen, except the handle/base is made of stained (brown) and polished wood, and the symbol tip is made of thin, golden metal surrounded by twisted, thorny vines. Like the canon, the symbol tip will evolve as Jupiter increases in power, with her 4-shaped symbol always being made of metal and the rest of the tip (oval perimeter, star, ect.) always being made of vines. It is possible to prick one’s finger on the thorns, which may initially have Jupiter hesitate to transform.
Transformation (Long):[/u] “Awaken, Spirit of Nature! ” These words, accompanied by the brandishing of her transformation pen (left hand) towards the ground, initiate the transformation. A green portal (similar to that mentioned later in Mandragora: ‘Miasma’) appears around her feet. A collection of leaf-and-violet-flower covered vines erupts from the portal, wrapping Zoey up completely. As the vines cover her, the hand with the transformation pen is lifted above her head, making the tip of the pen the ‘highest point.’ (The stance is very similar to canon Venus’ final transformation pose.) Naturally, it takes a moment for the vines to climb her body, and her left arm and, subsequently, the transformation pen are the last parts to be ‘assaulted’ by the vines. As the foliage curls around the base of the pen, she adds: ‘Hear your herald’s call and bring forth the fury of Heaven!” A vibrant golden blast of lightning then cuts the sky, arcing up through the vines (because we all know ‘natural’ lightning actually travels from the ground up!) and exploding into the air from the tip of the transformation pen. The energy expands into a golden disc above her green-gold silhouette, then splits into golden ribbons. The ribbons move as jagged, lightning bolt shaped forms that coalesce into place on her body, forming the pieces of her uniform and, in a flash, Sailor Jupiter is revealed.
Transformation (Short):[/u] Jupiter’s short transformation does not include a verbal activator, and is, as the name suggests, short and to the point. No calling to any spirits, no waiting for the ‘grass to grow’, a thick golden lightning bolt appears to strike her raised transformation pen, covering her in a golden light and then, in a burst of violet flower petals and rich green leaves, the energy disperses, revealing the Senshi of Jupiter.
Abilities (in order of appearance)[/u]
1. Plasma Vector:[/u] Jupiter’s first lightning ability initially manifests as the standard, instant cast, line-of-site required stream of electricity. Emitted from her hands, it is, quite possibly, the most cliché and expected method of combat lightning use ever created – something that should be remarked upon by teammates, on-lookers, and enemies. Despite the lame embarrassment of the move, a ‘mage’ has to start somewhere, and this method is the most basic of basic. Being lightning, Plasma Vector inflicts fairly intense electrical damage with the possible side effects of stunning or shorting out enemies. (Obviously the stun applies to most targets, and shorting out applies to mechanical or robotic opponents.) The blast of lightning travels about 15 feet before dissipating, but is not capable of hitting multiple targets in a line (the first target hit takes the full punch of the ability.) As she gains experience, Jupiter will be able to ‘bend’ the lightning stream up to 35 degrees left or right, in order to direct it around obstacles and towards an enemy. Plasma Vector’s range will also increase over time, maxing out at 30 feet. At start, Jupiter can use Plasma Vector 2 times per battle. At full power she will have the option of using it up to 4 times per battle. It is available for use at game start. Plasma Vector does have the capability of causing environmental damage if she misses her target and is powerful enough to function as Jupiter’s first finishing blow.
2. Lazy Wisteria:[/u] Jupiter’s first plant-based ability is also her first ‘crowd control’ ability and, like Plasma Vector, is an instant cast ability. Lazy Wisteria manifests as the summoning of fast-growing vines around a target. The vines quickly grow over the target and sprout a multitude of heavy pendulums of purple wisteria flowers, which immediately fill the air with a thick, sweet fragrance. While the vines themselves are easily torn away (even from within) the heavy fragrance, a result of the pollen from the flowers, has a hypnotic effect within a 5 foot radius of the vines. Weak (or weakened) individuals within this range may go to sleep, stronger targets may only slow down or become lethargic. The lethargy wears off on the second Jupiter post (or post #3 if Jupiter performs Lazy Wisteria on post #1), but individuals that have fallen asleep could, theoretically sleep ‘a full night’ if undisturbed by loud noise or physical contact. Lazy Wisteria can be performed on any solid surface, even synthetic surfaces, but cannot be used on water or in situations where the ground the target is standing on is disconnected from Jupiter’s location (i.e. if combat were taking place, say, on floating platforms.) Its maximum range is 30 feet away, and cannot be used to target flying or burrowing enemies. It is ineffective against targets that do not breathe (or are wearing air filtration devices, such as a gas mask.) Lazy Wisteria can be used a maximum of 3 times per day. At first use, Jupiter may only strike a single target with the ability, but at full power she will be able to snag 3 separate targets. Jupiter will gain access to Lazy Wisteria shortly after her awakening. (Within 1 or 2 battles.)
3. Panic Pumpkin!:[/u] Jupiter’s third ability is her second plant-based ability and, as the name implies, meant to be utilized when ‘in a pinch’ and panicking. As mentioned, Jupiter does not do well when stuck in melee range with an opponent. As such (after getting knocked around a few times), she will develop a once-per-battle ‘failsafe’ for when the enemy closes in on her. That failsafe, of course, is the Panic Pumpkin. Panic Pumpkin is an ‘interrupt’ ability, cast as an instant counter attack when Jupiter is struck by an enemy’s attack (even if she’s currently trying to cast something else.) At the moment of contact, something akin to a ‘witch’s hat’, made out of a few large leaves, appears on her head. From the base of this hat, a wax-like orange substance erupts forth and surrounds the Senshi in a large sphere… that just happens to be an abnormally large pumpkin. And not just a pumpkin! This particular pumpkin has been carved to resemble a jack-o-lantern and is not shy about spitting human head-sized pumpkin seeds at whatever enemy attacked Jupiter. The formation of the pumpkin absorbs the enemy’s attack, and the seed projectiles function as Jupiter’s counter attack. While the pumpkin is sturdy enough to endure a significant portion of general damage, fire can burn straight through it and it only has 5 seeds to spit at the enemy. All 5 seeds are spit at the target in a single turn, doing concussive damage (though they are more dangerous as merely a distraction) and once they are spent something… interesting happens. For better or worse, Jupiter is the sixth and final projectile spit from the jack-o-lantern before it dissipates, and this usually results in her being catapulted to the far side of the battlefield.
4.Amalthea – Electric Bloom:[/u]: Jupiter’s fourth ability is her second lightning manifestation, and is the first of her moves that requires a ‘casting time.’ “Amalthea”, and a contemplative stance signify the summoning of her bolts. Although the electrical energy begins to concentrate immediately (as a swirling, crackling golden sphere floating above her head), she is unable to release that energy until her next post. Thus, it is possible to interrupt her. A successful strike from an enemy will dissipate the energy and waste the attack (requiring her to hope for a ‘stun’ or ‘sleep’ with one of her weaker abilities to set up time to use this attack, if fighting by herself.) Should she not be interrupted, her next post is the unleashing of the Electric Bloom, which comes in the form of three separate, human-thick bolts of lightning that arc out from the golden sphere and strike up to three targets. (Obviously, more damage can be done to a single target, if all three bolts connect.) The bolt(s) strike and flow through the enemy, inflicting significant electrical damage (and the possibility of inflicting the expected ‘stun’ or ‘short-circuit’ electrical effect) and creating a 2-foot radius ‘flower’ of electricity on the ground that lingers until Jupiter’s next post. The flower can inflict minor electrical damage to anything that happens to step into it. The maximum range for this attack is 30 feet, in any direction. When Jupiter gains this attack she will only be able to use it once per battle. At maximum power, she may summon Electric Bloom 3 times per battle. Triple bolt Electric Bloom (i.e. on a single target) becomes her primary finishing blow once she obtains it.
5. Twisted Thorns:[/u] Jupiter’s fifth ability (which is her third plant-based ability) is a different animal (ha… see the problem there? It’s plant-based, but… -_- than her other abilities. Like Electric Bloom, Twisted Thorns requires a one-post ‘casting’ time, with the ability actually being enacted on her next post. That, of course, is where the similarities end. Twisted Thorns manifests as an expansive, living maze of brambles and vines that ‘traps’ all individuals unlucky enough to be caught within its area of effect. The area of effect, which is a square about the size of half of a football field, is actually variable, insomuch that it can be made smaller than its maximum size, in order to fit battlefield conditions. The maximum size of the ability will never increase. The maze itself is also variable, seemingly changing at random. Obstacles experienced by those within the maze include: dead ends, paths that seal themselves after one passes through them, thick vines that reach out and attempt to entangle and/or swat individuals, red flowers that emit a poisonous pollen (slowly drains the energy of those close to the flower), and the occasional giant thorn spike that explodes from the hedge walls. While only the thorn is intrinsically life-threatening, the overall scope of Twisted Thorns is a trial of the individual’s will. Flying enemies, naturally, can simply take to the sky to avoid the maze, but the entangling vines and giant thorn projections will try to catch them so long as they are flying over the maze. It should be noted that all of the obstacles within the maze are ongoing at the same time, and the maze DOES NOT differentiate between ally and enemy: it attacks everything within it. (Except Jupiter, if she happens to be inside… which is normally not the case.) On casting, Jupiter is able to place the ‘closest edge’ (and subsequently the ‘exit’) of the maze up to 30 feet away from her position (assuming the battlefield allows for such placement) and cannot move or perform any other abilities while Twisted Thorns is in play. Methods to escape the maze are many: one may try to slash and slice their way through with weapons, fire users can burn themselves a straight path as well. ‘Simply’ avoiding the obstacles and lucking upon the correct path to the exit is also an option. Additionally, there is a single ‘free escape’ method built into Twisted Thorns. Every time the maze is produced there is a single, violet flower located somewhere within it. Plucking this flower from whatever vine it happens to be growing on will shift the maze, parting it like Moses and the Red Sea and giving the individual a straight, wide-open path to Jupiter herself. It should be mentioned that a portion of any physical damage done to the maze (slashing, burning, ect.) is inflicted on Jupiter and her control over the maze can be broken by striking her directly (either with a projectile, from a flying adversary, or from being outside of or making one’s way through the maze.) At maximum size as soon as she gains the ability, and with the restriction of only being able to be used once per day, Twisted Thorns variability in power comes from its duration. When she first gains the ability, the maze will persist for 3 Jupiter posts, total (once it physically manifests.) At maximum power the duration of the ability is 6 posts. Should Jupiter be hit or choose to stop concentrating prior to the maximum duration of Twisted Thorns, the maze persists for 1 additional round before dissipating. (i.e., if she activates the ability on post #1 and casts it on post #2, it should persist until post #5. If, however, she is hit before her post #3, the maze will disappear on her post #4.) Projectile-based allies may find that Twisted Thorns turns battle into a ‘shooting gallery’ for them, if the team coordinates effectively…
6.Galileo - Excommunication:[/u] Jupiter’s ultimate lightning-based ability. Following along the pattern of development for her abilities, Excommunication requires a 2 post ‘casting’ time before its power can be unleashed on an enemy. (i.e., she activates it by ‘Galileo’ on post #1, charges on post #2 – hopefully not getting hit and having to restart the casting in the process -, and actually activating Excommunication on post #3.) During her ‘casting’ time, Jupiter is completely vulnerable and any successful hit on her will disrupt her concentration and cause her ‘spell’ to fizzle. Should she have the opportunity to unleash Excommunication, though, the single target she has chosen is in serious trouble (unless, of course, they happen to be resistant or immune to lightning.) With the only hint that she is casting being the spoken name ‘Galileo’, she tends to appear to be a useless member of the team on the battlefield while casting. When she casts Excommunication, however, everyone knows. Accompanied by an ear-piercing, soul-shaking blast of thunder, Excommunication manifests as an enormous sphere of writhing electrical energy that completely encases a single target. This sphere of electricity can only be dispelled if Jupiter is directly attacked – that is, no manner of energy blasting or physical attack on the sphere (not sure why one would try physically hitting pure electricity, but…) can free the ensnared target and, in fact, most projectiles will either be vaporized by the lightning or will pass through to strike the target. For the entire duration of Excommunication, the trapped target is constantly bombarded by severe electrical damage. Weaker enemies may be obliterated instantly, while some may endure, stuck in place by the shock, for quite some time before vaporizing from the energy overload. Stronger enemies, however, may still be able to move and attack, while taking damage, but will find their speed and strength significantly compromised by the unending onslaught of lightning. Excommunication is incredibly debilitating to electronic/robotic enemies, usually destroying them immediately, regardless of their strength. (‘Named’ robotic bosses, should they exist in the storyline, are not included in this description.) Excommunication can only be used once per day when she obtains it (twice per day once she gains the ability to summon Mandragora ‘Miasma’) and, despite being extremely powerful, can quickly become a Catch 22. For one, like Twisted Thorns, Jupiter is unable to move or use other abilities while Excommunication is in play. Further, the natural duration of the electrosphere is a static 3 posts after it manifests. However, Jupiter can choose to convert her own life energy into ‘electric plasma’ to continue to hold the sphere on her target until either a) the target dies or b) she passes out… or worse. With its long casting time and the possible need to inflict damage upon herself to maintain it, Excommunication exists as an ability that must be precisely used. (Casting for two rounds, only to be knocked out of the spell before it comes out would be disastrous, and holding it for too long…) The range at which the electrosphere can manifest is significant, too. Excommunication has the longest range of any of her attacks, with the lightning orb being able to be placed on an enemy up to 100 feet away from her.
7. Mandragora ‘Miasma’:[/u] The culmination of Jupiter’s ‘dual elemental nature’ and her true last ditch/desperation ability, the Mandragora ‘vine-and-lightning’ dragon ‘Miasma’ is truly a mystery, in terms of what it really is and where it comes from. Is it merely the ultimate manifestation of Jupiter’s lightning and plant-based abilities? If so, is the design and ferocity something that comes from her imagination? Perhaps it is a representation of what lies deep within her soul. Or, could it be a relic of the past? A ‘pet’ of history, from a Senshi that came before, or… an ‘old God’, a spirit that connects the life of the land and the terrible flashing energy of the sky? One can only speculate, as the creature (if, indeed, it is a creature) does not have the ability to speak. Regardless of its identity and origin, the fact of the matter is that it is fierce, and an enemy that very few would like to tangle with. ‘Miasma’ (how Zoey/Jupiter knows that that is the name of the thing is also anyone’s guess) is able to be summoned only when Jupiter is in critical danger (i.e., has already taken significant combat damage and/or has held Excommunication out for too long.) When this condition is met, the girl develops a faint green aura and a look of sheer confusion after which she may manage to take two or three steps before collapsing. Once down, the aura begins to fluctuate and increase in intensity, and Jupiter is unable to be roused by the voices or actions of allies. (Except, perhaps, magical healing.) If, once she has fallen, no enemy combatant attempts to ‘come in for the kill’, she will simply remain ‘passed out’ for the rest of the battle, reawakening groggy and weak a few minutes after the area is considered safe (or after being carried to safety.) If, however, an enemy should attempt to rush in and strike the final blow, they will be in for a less than pleasant surprise. Upon approach, Jupiter’s green aura will collapse upon itself, taking her physical form with it and leaving what appears to be a green whirlpool in her place. ‘Miasma’, which is a serpent-like vine-dragon with an electricity core (essentially the same one that appears in her symbol), erupts from the portal, surprising the enemy and attempting to, quite simply, eat it. Giant thorn fangs and a tongue made of lightning, compounded by powerful jaws makes the experience none-too-pleasant for the unaware enemy and, if successful and if the target is the only enemy left, ‘Miasma’ will take its snack back down into the whirlpool and leave an unconscious and dehenshined Zoey in its place. If, however, the enemy evades or escapes, or if other enemies remain on the battlefield, the serpent comes out of the portal-like whirlpool and joins the battlefield as a fully tangible combatant. Though ‘Miasma’ will only persist for 2 posts (before returning to wherever it is she comes from and leaving the unconscious/dehenshined Zoey back on the battlefield), the speed of the serpent and its apparently insatiable appetite make it THE primary threat for enemies of the group (meaning a break for anyone else under duress!) ‘Miasma’ is big: her head is the size of a small car, with her body having a similar thickness, and from ‘snout’ to ‘tail’, she measures around 40 feet long. Though she won’t target an ally directly, her sidewinder like movement has the potential to ‘tail bat’ allies away, completely by accident, when she pursues an enemy. She is also not invincible and though she will usually retreat (again leaving Zoey back on the field) if she is significantly damaged or perceives a threat she’d rather not deal with, it may be possible to kill her via brute strength or massive fire. (i.e., ripping her apart – probably a really big enemy – or burning away her body.) Should this occur, the results on Jupiter are currently unable to be determined. If Jupiter is forced to summon ‘Miasma’, she will, as mentioned, reappear unconscious and dehenshined and, after waking, will be unable to transform again for a full 24-hours. Additionally, ‘Miasma’ seems to only be able to answer the summoning once every 3 days. If this ‘cool down’ period has not passed and Jupiter finds herself in dire straits in battle again, she will not develop an aura and will not collapse of her own accord.
